Vehicle Details
The iconic RX7 and its unique rotary platform switched gears with the release of the third generation FD, featuring an all new body design and the first ever 13B twin sequential turbo system ever to be exported from Japan.
Power was rated at 188kW at release in 1993, and upped to 206kW by the end of production in later years.
The turbo systems initial onset provided 10 psi (0.69 bar) of boost from 1,800 rpmm with the second turbocharger activated in the upper half of the rpm range (during full throttle) at 4,000 rpm to maintain 10 psi (0.69 bar) until redline.
Handling in the FD was regarded as world-class, and it is still regarded as being one of the finest handling and the best balanced cars of all time with a 50:50 front-rear weight distribution ratio and low center of gravity.
